Anti-Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

Slavery and human trafficking remain a hidden blight in our global society, and we all have a responsibility to be alert to the risks, however small, in our business and the wider supply chain.

We are committed to ensuring there is transparency in our business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout. We uphold our commitment to the core principles outlined in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Staff are expected to report concerns and management are expected to act upon them.

We do not engage in business with any organisation, that knowingly supports or is discovered to be involved in slavery, servitude, forced labour, or compulsory labour.

Our Business

We are an established contracting specialist operating in the construction industry.

Our supply chains

Our supply chains include construction subcontractors carrying out work in the UK.

Policies and Commitments

We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or any part of our business. Our Anti-slavery Policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our business or supply chains.

Due diligence process for slavery and human trafficking

  • Business Code of Conduct
  • Whistleblowing Policy
  • Recruitment Policy and Procedures
  • Anti-Bribery & Corruption Policy
  • Right to Work Policy
  • Disciplinary Policy and Procedure

These policies set out the standards required of our staff and include details of the mechanisms in place which can be used to report issues or concerns about modern slavery taking place in our organisation or linked to it.

Risk Assessment and Management

Due to the nature of our business, we assess ourselves to have a low risk of modern slavery in our business and supply chains. Nevertheless, as part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, the steps we take to manage these risks are outlined below:

  • We obtain relevant identification documents for all the individuals in our supply chain and ensure the identity and right to work are properly evidenced and confirmed.
  • All the individual’ details, including bank accounts, are reviewed thoroughly to ensure the details belong to the individual. Ongoing system monitoring is in place and suspicious activities are reported immediately.
  • We maintain records of all payments made to the individuals in our supply chain and run checks to ensure there is no unexplained duplication of details.
  • We have policies in place to ensure that all individuals in our supply chain are paid correctly at the agreed rates and that these are set at a level at least that of the current National Minimum/Living Wage.
  • We only supply our services to businesses operating in the United Kingdom.
  • We have in place systems for the reporting of concerns and aim to encourage openness. We will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith even if they are mistaken. We are committed to ensuring no one suffers any detrimental treatment as a result of reporting in good faith, their suspicion that modern slavery in whatever form is or may be taking place in any part of our own business or our supply chains.

Supplier adherence to our values

We have zero tolerance to slavery and human trafficking. We expect all those in our supply chain and contractors comply with our values. Our compliance department has a policy in place to monitor our supplier relationships and report any concerns.

Training

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we provide training and guidance to relevant members of staff and Directors. Management at all levels is responsible for ensuring those reporting to them understand and comply with the policy.

Continuous Improvement

We acknowledge that the nature of modern slavery risks may evolve and commit to regularly reviewing our anti-modern slavery policies, procedures, and practices to address emerging challenges. We ensure we stay abreast of changes in relevant laws and regulations related to modern slavery and will adapt our practices to remain compliant.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our group’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the current financial year.
